We set the site of our merrymaking in sleepy Harper's Ferry, WV. In fact we stayed in the Jackson Rose B&B, site of the illustrious Gen. Thomas Jonathan "Stonewall" Jackson's first military headquarters during the civil war. (He was fighting for the British) . We tucked every photo of him out of sight . . . how would you like having an old, dead, slave driver staring at you while you slept? Wrong on so many levels.

Being a history major, Aileen insisted we visit the historic battlefield of Antietam, home of the bloodiest single day of battle in the civil war . . . it's mostly cleaned up now. . .
. . .thanks to a few well-placed water hydrants.
At some point in our six+ year tenure, I convinced Leeny to come on a bike ride with me. It was well worth the view.

To think, we were kayaking in these same waters yesterday.

And of course, West Virginia is famous for nothing, if not its fine wines . . . or at least scenic vineyards.

A little bit of Tuscany closer to home.

Harpers Ferry circa . . . ok, you can read!

Harper's Ferry circa 2007 -- really! It hasn't changed much. Although, they now charge a nickel for each flush.
